Rustic Retreat Bedroom

This client has smartly updated their 20-year-old, 5-bedroom home room by room. After completing their primary bathroom, they knew it was time to focus on making their bedroom a real retreat too. We identified the goals of adding softness, function, harmony and personality to the otherwise boring room.

Knowing the family loved the outdoors and mountains, I quickly sourced a long, framed landscape with dusky colors to serve as inspiration for the rest of the room. A fresh paint color creates the perfect backdrop for the couple’s existing wood furniture, and new Eastern Accents bedding in mixed materials adds interest. An incredibly soft Jaipur Living rug marries vintage and rustic charm and brings in rich olives and blues.

One challenge was sourcing nightstands that would fit within the nook on each end of the king size bed. Two rope-front chests fit exactly and allow bedside items to remain hidden away.

Perfectly-tailored, pleated drapery in indigo suggest the night sky and highlight the bay window view. Two exposed-wood, lounge chairs in olive velvet give a sophisticated rustic vibe, neat symmetry and provide the perfect place to curl up with a good book.

Overall, the collection was installed by the Authentic Interiors team in one day, so the client didn’t have to lift a finger. And the comprehensive design creates a grown-up bedroom to enliven and enrich this couple’s new phase of their life together.
